A gay man in Lopburi, Thailand, is suspected of poisoning his friend, Chonlada “Tong” Kongdam, and staging a motorcycle accident to claim a 1.5 million baht insurance payout.
Tong, 25, crashed her motorcycle on February 2 and was admitted to King Narai Hospital with minor injuries. She died the next day. An autopsy revealed cyanide in her system. Channel 8 found that Tong had signed an insurance policy just before the accident, with the beneficiary being her friend, Por, who was listed as her boyfriend in the documents.
Investigations showed that Por and Tong were friends, not romantically involved, and Por had expressed a desire to adopt Tong’s son. Additionally, the hurried funeral and signs of poisoning on Tong’s body raised further suspicions.
Despite these findings, Tong’s family does not suspect foul play and wants to halt the investigation. However, lawyer Nitikorn “James” Kaewto is urging police to continue the probe into her death.
