Data released by the General Insurance Association of Japan (GIAJ) revealed that claims paid for the hailstorm that struck Hyogo Prefecture on April 16th totaled $356.2 million (¥56.44 billion).
The majority of the claims, accounting for 55.7%, were related to damage to own vehicles. Following closely behind, fire insurance claims made up 43.8%, with miscellaneous claims comprising the remaining 0.52%.
The GIAJ reported a total of 122,152 claims submitted, out of which 119,238 were approved and paid.
