GK General Insurance (GKGI) has announced an extension to the deadline for submitting Hurricane Beryl claims, now set for Tuesday, September 10, 2024. This extension aims to accommodate the ongoing recovery efforts of many Jamaicans affected by the category four storm that struck on July 3.
K. Michelle Reid, GKGI’s claims manager, emphasized the company’s commitment to its clients, stating, “Our clients are central to our operations, and we recognize the severe impact Hurricane Beryl has had on them.”
To assist policyholders in addressing their immediate needs and to facilitate a smoother recovery process, Reid confirmed the extension beyond the standard 30-day filing period. “We encourage clients to submit their Hurricane Beryl claim notifications, reports, and necessary documentation before the new deadline to ensure prompt processing,” Reid said.
Acknowledging that clients in affected regions, including St Elizabeth, Manchester, and Clarendon, may still face disruptions in electricity and internet services, Reid reassured affected individuals. “If you are experiencing difficulties and need to file a claim, please visit one of our branches, or contact us by phone at 876-926-3204 or via WhatsApp at 876-581-8611. Our team is prepared to assist you in submitting your claim.”
In addition, clients can access claim forms through GKGI’s website and submit property claims via the ‘My Policy Portal’ at gk-insurance.com or email [email protected].
