Singapore Athletics (SA) has secured a significant boost towards its aspirations for the 2029 SEA Games with the announcement of a five-year, $500,000 sponsorship deal with Income Insurance. This landmark agreement, known as the Income Insurance Athletes Development Fund (IIADF), marks the largest sponsorship deal to date for SA.
Under the terms of the deal, Income Insurance will contribute $100,000 annually to support SA’s efforts in providing insurance coverage and cash sponsorship for over 120 athletes and staff. This funding will facilitate overseas training and competition opportunities, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of Singapore’s athletic talents.
Dhiren Amin, Chief Customer Officer of Income Insurance, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the company’s commitment to nurturing national athletes and supporting their journey towards international success. He highlighted the importance of empowering young athletes across various disciplines, aiming to maximize their potential and competitiveness.
The IIADF will primarily benefit younger athletes, including those in SA’s National Development Squad, who are on track to qualify for major events such as the SEA Games and Asian Games. This initiative underscores SA’s dedication to cultivating sports excellence and positioning Singapore as a leading athletics nation in the region.
SA President Lien Choong Luen expressed confidence in the partnership with Income Insurance, stressing its alignment with SA’s mission to promote athletic excellence. He affirmed that the sponsorship will enable athletes to push their limits and achieve new heights in their sporting endeavors.
